The partition with Windows installed can be backed up while it's still in use, meaning there's no need to reboot to complete a backup like this. COMODO Backup utilizes Volume Shadow Copy to do this. Supported Backup Destinations: Backups can be saved to a local drive, optical media like a CD/DVD/BD disc, network folder, external drive, FTP server, or sent to a recipient over email. You can also back up to the cloud via COMODO's online backup add-on service. Backups can be saved to these destinations using the popular ZIP or ISO format, as well as COMODO's proprietary CBU format. A self-extracting CBU file is also an option, which is helpful if restoring your data might happen when COMODO Backup isn't installed. It can also save backups using a regular copy function to avoid compression or conversion.
Because it comes with an embedded utility, namely CCloud, you have the possibility to drag and drop any file or folder you want to easily backup it. What's more, the utility provides you with various compression and encryption algorithms so you can keep your data secured. Another feature that makes Comodo BackUp easy-to-use is the integration with Windows Explorer. Simply navigate to the file you want to and send it to your cloud storage. Its main interface enables you to view the last backup job you performed and if the online storage is still active. You can easily browse for your files and restore the ones you are interested in. Thus, by using Comodo BackUp you can get quick access to your files through web and mobile by using your account and secure download and upload processes. All things considered, Comodo BackUp enables you to quickly backup your files in a secure cloud storage providing you with multiple ways to access your documents. You can schedule backups to happen at specific times and even tell the program what to do if a particular backup time is missed, and in a nice touch you can scan for malware and junk files so you don't backup anything you don't want to resurrect. User experience Comodo Backup is a very powerful and customisable program, but unfortunately that means it's less user-friendly for beginners than many of its rivals. If you know exactly what you want and what you're doing you'll like it a lot, but if you're new to this backing up malarkey you might feel that the interface is intimidating and the included help isn't as helpful as it might be. There are also a few things you'll need to do to make it work fully: it doesn't run with admin privileges by default (which you need for system backups) and you'll need to install the Windows Automated Installation Kit to make drive images. The advanced options let you customize your backup in just about any way imaginable, all without over complicating the process. What We Like Some backup programs can back up just files, and others allow partition saving but not individual folder backup. COMODO Backup allows for all of this by combining the best of several backup programs into one suite. Not only do we like the fact that we can use it to save files and folders to an FTP folder with password protection enabled and specific scheduling options, but it also lets us back up an entire hard drive, which means we don't need to install additional programs to add that ability to the computer. The restore feature is absolutely wonderful. Instead of restoring all files and folders like some backup programs require, you can mount a backup as if it were a virtual drive and then copy out the files you wish to use at that time. Alternatively, you can restore the whole backup to the original location, so it's nice that the choice is there.
0 of the files had been backed up. It was still scanning the backup. "155644 files found" was what I got as updates every few Comodo help site wasn't much assistance because I couldn't come up with the correct phrase to describe my problem in a search engine. I stopped it after 4. 5 hours with 0 backed up. I don't have the time to research this problem right now, due to work and grad school. I will look elsewhere, but I still have high regard for Comodo. Review details Been using Comodo Backup for more than 1 year, and so far it is the best and simplest to use I have problem I have from time to time, is that it changes my Destination External hard drive letter from G to H or vice versa, and of course it won't work until you adjust it. Comodo's suggestion to do backups to a CD/DVD is to do the backup to your hard drive or a virtual drive and then burn the backup to a CD/DVD with your burning program. Despite Comodo's claim to the contrary, there is no way to do a backup directly to a CD/DVD.
I installed Nero's InCD hoping that this program would detect the formatted DVD as another hard drive, but it would not. I really like this program's interface and the clean backups it does to a hard drive, but I need to do backups to a CD/DVD. Hopefully, Comodo will resolve this issue in the future and provide a better solution to doing backups to a DVD. This is an excellent program as long as you don't need to do backups to a DVD. I ended up going with GFI Backup on this website since it will do backups directly to either the CD/DVD drive or to the CD/DVD drive with InCD formatting; in the latter case, it treats the DVD drive just like another hard drive.
